If you want to learn the secrets of medicinal plants and herbs, find out when plants are harvested and dried, how they are used and combined, or how to recognize medicinal plants and use them, then the “Biljarnica” school for studying medicinal plants is just for you!
During the two-month course (sixteen 45-minute lessons of theory, as well as sixteen 45-minute practical lessons in nature), Momcilo Antonijevic, a journalist and folk herbalist, will guide you through the magical world of powerful plants. Between 19 May and 7 July 2021, all those who signed up will have the opportunity to study medicinal plants in their natural habitat, learn to distinguish between them and similar plants and master the techniques of picking and drying medicinal plants.
Momcilo has been studying medicinal plants for almost 28 years, starting in 1993.
He runs his own website, as well as his own Youtube channel called "Snaga bilja" - ("The power of plants") which are both dedicated to studying the healing properties of medicinal plants, how to use and collect them. He writes about medicinal plants in his regular column in the daily "Blic" newspaper, in addition to being a guest of the RTS1 morning program every Tuesday.

At the “Biljarnica” school you will learn about the following:
- What medicinal plants are, what the mechanisms that affect our health are and what the basic groups of active ingredients of medicinal plants are
- How and from which plants infusions, decoctions, tinctures, oil macerates and balms are made
- Herbal mixtures - how they are made, how long they are taken
- Contraindications and safety of the use of medicinal plants, poisonous plants
- How to grow medicinal plants in urban and rural conditions, as well as how to turn cultivating plants into a business. Medicinal plants in agriculture (natural fertilizers and insecticides)
- Medicinal plants for children
- Basics of aromatherapy - what essential oils are, how they work and how to use them properly
- Medicinal and wild plants in the kitchen
The lessons are divided into two 45-minute classes with a 15-minute break in between and will be held on Wednesdays at six o’clock pm throughout May at the “Nova Iskra” creative hub, at the following address: Gavrlia Principa 43, Belgrade. Practical lessons will be held in the morning on weekends and will include a trip into nature and a light walk lasting two to three hours, during which students will learn to recognize, properly pick and use certain plants. During breaks we will prepare tea to drink in nature.
What makes this program special is the fact that a parallel group will be formed for all those who are not able to follow it live (for those who don’t’ live in Belgrade, are incompatible with our schedule, etc.). An online version of the “Biljarnica” program will be organized specifically for these types of cases. In this way, everyone will be able to attend the program at any time, no matter where they are - participants will be given a link to the recorded lecture, which only they will be able to access within 5 days. Online attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with the lesson so that they can ask questions that will be answered in the next lesson. Unlike the group that will follow the lectures in real time, there is no limit to the number of participants in the online version of the course.
