We are especially glad that we participated in the creation of the sensory garden that was opened in 2017 in the yard of the elementary school "Radivoj Popović" in Zemun, the oldest Belgrade school for the education of children with hearing and speech impairments, disharmonious motor development and autism. It is a unique school yard that is a place of learning, recreation and therapy for the students of this school. We are extremely proud to have been part of the team that worked on designing and arranging this school yard so that it becomes a large garden, which is both educational and interactive. This green oasis and outdoor classroom is intended for performing parts of the school program, sensory-motor stimulation and relaxation of children through various teaching and extracurricular activities.
As part of this project, which is carried out by the Belgrade Flower Festival and sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, Ekonaut has created a part of the garden with edible plants and herbs, as well as a corner that attracts butterflies and bees and thus nurtures local biodiversity. With the help of volunteers, our team organizes occasional work actions to maintain and further improve this school yard.
Our wish is that as many schools in Serbia as possible get a garden like this, which with its interesting content encourages children to spend more time playing and learning outside.
