In order to encourage and empower all those who would like to try gardening, the organization Ekonaut announced several lectures and workshops dedicated to gardening for beginners in October. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lectures and workshops for beginners who want to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of gardening have been announced for October and November, organized by the Ekonaut association. Working in the garden has numerous benefits for the physical and mental health of individuals, but it also has a positive effect on the environment, and thus on the local community. The lack of a larger area, ideal position or land, often seems like an obstacle in establishing your own garden, but the participants of the program will be presented with numerous solutions and tips for gardening in urban conditions. Autumn is a season that provides numerous opportunities for planting, so one part of the program will be dedicated to the selection of seedlings for this period. The lecture and workshop led by landscape architect Vladimir Milutinovi\u0107 will deal with the organic production of the edible garden, while Marija Nikoli\u0107, also a landscape architect, will dedicate the lecture and workshop to the establishment of an ornamental garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one in a series of educational activities that the Ekonaut organization plans to carry out in the next year within the project \"Initiatives for Urban Garden Communities\". It is a project that aims to promote garden communities as one of the possible solutions to the environmental challenges that Belgrade is facing, but also as places that can improve and enrich life in the city. Garden communities are open areas where individuals or groups grow plants of their choice and have numerous socially useful purposes. Therefore, in addition to education related to the cultivation of ornamental plants and food in urban conditions, programs dedicated to ways of forming and organizing garden communities will be held in order to empower local communities and individuals to influence the arrangement of green areas in their environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The basic steps in starting your own garden will be presented in the introductory lecture on October 13. Vladimir Milutinovi\u0107 will present how to use even the smallest area for a successful fruit-bearing garden throughout the year, how to best use the position of the garden and how to overcome problems with soil quality and water availability. Through simple instructions on the best times for garden work, preparatory work, sowing seeds and organic measures in garden preparation, basic knowledge will be gained that will enable beginner mistakes to be avoided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop on October 23 will introduce the participants to the autumn sowing and preparations for the winter seasonal garden. Workshop participants will learn which types of plants are tolerant of cold and strong winters, why you should have a green garden on the entire surface during the winter and how to make a small greenhouse with a minimum of time and materials spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To participate in the lecture, you need to register via the FORM <\/a><\/strong>after which you will receive an access link. The invitation to register for the workshop will be sent later to the participants of the lecture who indicated in the form that they want to attend the workshop as well. The number of places at the workshop is limited and the workshop is open only to those who will attend the lecture on October 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vladimir Milutinovi\u0107, professional biography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in 1982 in Belgrade, he finished primary and secondary school in Obrenovac. He graduated from the Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade. He gained experience in the company Semenarna Ljubljana in the import of seeds and gardening equipment, plant protection and in the agricultural pharmacy. In 2012, he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, Department of Organic Agriculture, and in 2018 he continued his specialist studies at the Faculty of Forestry at the Department of Plant Production. He is a teaching associate in the field of nursery production. Since 2014, he has been involved in the production of the TV series \"Small School of Gardening\" (2014), \"The World of Gardening\" (2018), \"The Secret of My Garden\" and \"The World of Nurseries\" (2021 ). From 2013 to 2018, he was a project manager for afforestation of degraded lands of TPP (N. Tesla Obrenovac, Kostolac, Kolubara). He cooperates with the organization Okvir \u017eivota on the promotion of the preservation of autochthonous fruit varieties on the territory of Serbia, education on the production of organic food and as a lecturer at workshops. As an expert in trees, he is active in a number of projects in cooperation with horticultural operators in Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The basics of establishing an ornamental garden on the terrace or in the garden will be presented in the introductory lecture on November 3. The lecture will cover several important areas such as defining the choice of what we want to have in our garden or on the terrace, basic environmental conditions, garden microlocation (land, water, drainage, etc.) and preparation of planting material. The lecture will also look at the most optimal solutions for terraces and balconies in dense urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 13, the workshop will introduce the participants to the basic materials and works in the garden, and as a living example of a garden that nurtures biodiversity, they will see an urban garden in Nova Iskra in Savamala. During the workshop, participants will be encouraged to make their own plan for a specific ornamental garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marija Nikoli\u0107, professional biography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduating from the Faculty of Forestry, majoring in landscape architecture, he began his professional career working with private gardens and gardens of catering facilities. Life takes her to France, where she has been following the development of urban ecology and the integration of greenery and urban gardens into the urban fabric of Paris, as well as the development of citizens' awareness of its importance. As a member of the French Federation of Landscaping, he has been at the source of information and creating trends in his profession in accordance with climate change for 17 years. In parallel with life in France, he is developing the Belgrade Flower Festival, which has been held in Belgrade for 11 years, always with key topics related to urban ecology and the application of landscaping in the city. The projects she emphasizes as her favorites are private gardens and terraces, regardless of the fact that her professional work is accompanied by larger commercial projects. Her work is authentic according to the principles of sustainability, and in accordance with nature and its postulates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
